Default Woodfast MC 908 - Vicmarc chucks OK?

My brother has an MC 908 and doesn't know what thread size is on the head stock. I'm thinking of paying him a visit soon and wonder whether my Vicmarc chucks will fit? The inserts I have are for my VL300, not sure about size there either.

I hope someone can help - I may need to get some inserts so I can use my chucks on his lathe.

    From memory, Woodfasts are either 1 1/8" x 8tpi or 1 1/4" x 8tpi.

    I think the Oz Vicmarc's come @ M30x3.5, although I've heard they're 1 1/4" x 8tpi in the States?

So, if we were yanks there'd be a chance... but I think you're out of luck.

    Default Woodfast.

    Hi Jeff,
I have'nt had a lot to do with Woodfast, & it depends on the age of this Lathe.
I also think it maybe 1in. 8tpi, which is Whitworth. Of course you could ask Woodfast themselves, & you might need to know the Serial No. to make it easier. Woodfast, not for me ???.
Go to www.cws.au.com as Jim will more likely know.

Woodfast mc908 most likely has 30 x 3.5mm thread. I have two, one is a 1982 model and the second one is a 1993 model, both have 30 x 3.5mm thread.

Some of the early ones were 1"x10tpi and then they changed to M30 x 3.5

Probably M30. but just guessing, get your brother to run some calipers over it.

My Woodfasts have all been 30 x 3.5, but as Jim suggests get bro to run a ruler across shaft to confirm.
