Default Help confirming the year model of this old Woodfast Lathe

Hi all, picked this up last weekend from one of the forum members and it was assumed to be a 70's model but the stamped info would seem to indicate this is a 1963 .... from my reading of various threads

Missing a motor and the headstock bearings definitely need replacing but it's largely free of any rust with just a bit of surface stuff.

The paint work seems to be baked enamel.

Thanks in advance for any ID help

    Cheers
    Phil

Wow, my initial reaction was that your numbering was different to mine. The dual branded Woodfast/Hyco machines with badges like yours were manufactured in the 60s, so will suggest 1963, based on the stamp.

    Thanks Lance,

Interestingly that any reference to the branding was that Woodfast bought Hyco out but if you look closely at the badge the "c" actually appears to be a "g" making it Hygo.

I'm nearly 100% that i'll remove the pitted paint work and respray in the original colour, or as close as we can get, I'll talk to some sandblasters for the bed itself with a clear warning not to directly blast the machined surfaces, the head and tail stock I can do by hand. Removing the badge cleanly is still a puzzle as they look like metal pins that are not coming out anytime soon

There is more than enough paint for close match by an automotive shop.

I know that a bunch of vintage anything guys are cringing about removing the patina of age but I would like to end up with a "as out the door of the factory" finish restoration. at least on the main components, the under body motor setup will be modern vfd technology me thinks

    Cheers
    Phil
