When did TCT or tungsten carbide makes its entrance into the wood turning arena? Personally I had experience in using it back in the 1960's and made some tools for my Dad on his lathe. OK the refinement of the process of making TCT along with development in grain structure didnt make it ideal for fine edge generation.

Then there was the innovation in the late 80's of the 4 jaw chucks, except they got the direction of the scroll for tightening wrong and its still wrong if we compare it to metal turning lathes world wide.
