Advice on shower hob removal

I'm an amateur at this but want to save labour where I can... is it a possibility or am I likely to cause considerable collateral damage?

If the shower hob is built correctly it should not be possible! You will compromise the waterproofing of the shower recess and potentially cause future problems with water damage.Mobyturns
