Thread: Glass coatings on shower screen door

RAINEX is what people use on their car glass to assist - I haven't used it indoors but it is incredible in the weather..... proprietary products like you mention must have some benefit but I don't know they're worth the added cost - how much extra is/was it? - sorry I just realised you posted ages ago

Better late than never. I have ended up ordering the door without as \I can put the application on after. from memory it was $120 dollars extra. The people supplying the door who won the quote didn't recommend using anything even though they sold the products.

Timely, I'm thinking about giving Rainex a burl too, just haven't got round to it yet . It works wonders on the car, so the shower should be ok!

Try wiping the cut end of a potato over a windscreen, and then buff clean.

Does the same thing and a fair bit cheaper too

While I don't doubt the concept, I am staggered that it ever came into common practice!

To cut a long story short...had all but the door of our shower treated....made a huge difference with cleaning as water/soap scum beads off.

Once the door was replaced, it was treated as well and no longer need to scrub the shower...only squeegy it after a shower every other week.

Worth $100....certainly.

I purchased Enduro Shield from my local tile shop a few weeks ago and applied to my 6 month old shower screen last weekend. I followed the instructions to the letter when cleaning the glass and applying the product.

The end result was extremely disapointing. I would say that there was little to no improvement whatsoever. The water droplets still cling to the glass and leave water marks when they dry. Two days after applying Enduro Shield I started to chamois the glass after every shower to remove the water still on the screen. This leaves it looking okay, but 6 days after applying the coating I can already see a minor soap scum haze forming at the bottom of the shower door - even though I have been chamoising the glass after each shower!

I spent $60 on Enduro Shield and feel it was a total waste of money!

I have tried the RAINEX on the shower screen. lasted about a week. the soap obvioulsy breaks it down.

I thought the same thing as you. I first thought that I wouldn't have to clean it, but I think my expectations were a bit unrealistic. A chamois is too smooth and is good for drying the glass and not cleaning it.
Try cleaning the treated glass with a mircofibre mitt such as an Enjo or Sabco. The Enduro Shielded glass will clean up extremely easy without any chemicals. I just clean it once a week, and it cleans up great. I was told that it is just as easy as cleaning a non-stick fry pan, and it is. All I use is the mitt, then a squeegy to remove the water drops. I put it on my shower when it was new, and that was a year ago now. When I clean it is still looks brand new. I have always cleaned the shower, because my wife couldnt stand the fumes from the chemicals used to clean the glass. Once I found this product, and showed her how easy it was to clean, she gladly took the job back. Definatley worth the $60!
