    Default Backyard fireplace

Just thought I'd have a go at posting a couple of pictures. One is of a fireplace that me and my son built under our pergola area last summer. We used some old recycled red bricks that were left over from a fireplace that we did at a pub.The side doors and benchtops were out of leftover treated pine decking. The timber is only rubbish really but looks alright. The blanket box is made from scrap timber also. There is so much waste timber left over at my brother's transportable home business that I would have to make 50 projects a week to make any sort of a dent in it.They have a big burn during the winter and empty about ten bins a week but there is still heaps there.I suppose I like to find a use for the waste more so than actually doing the projects so maybe I"m more of a recycler than a woodworker(rough one)But I do get through quite a few projects when in the mood. The other picture is of a mosiac that I finished a couple of weeks ago.It was made from bits and pieces of broken and full tiles that are left over at work.I have only just started to get a bit interested in this and have a couple on the go at the moment.I find it a little bit tedious but collected a heap of tiles so will have to use them I suppose.(maybe)Regards Terry

The fireplace looks great. Which pub was it? I've spent a little bit of time in a couple of the pubs up that way

Hello namtrak, that fireplace in the picture is under my pergola. The bricks that we used in that were left over from from a fireplace that we did at the Shanty Hotel just outside Wagga. My brother has owned the Shanty(he is in the process of selling at the moment)for the last 12 years or so.I'll see if I can dig up a picture of that fireplace and post it.The fireplace out there is surrounded by some of my brother's motorbikes (he still races in the post classic class)so you might remember it by that.Regards Terry

I'd like a fireplace like that in my house... goodonya, must take the chill off those cold winter evenings in Wagga.
    Cheers,

Used to visit the Shanty about 30 years ago with my folks. It used to be a popular music pub, been out there a few times since for darts games and so on. But not as frequently as the Duck, or the Farmers Home etc

    Cheers
