Patching a cement render exterior wall
G'day, I'm a first timer here and am enthused by the variety of posts. Great stuff !
I have removed external brickwork from a fireplace that was not required. The extenal walls are stucco render which was done about 25 years ago and shows no sign of fatigue etc. There is about 30mm of render which I'd say was built up with layers over chicken wire and then sprayed with a "bertani ? " cement sprayer. I suppose you can get the same effect with a hand broom by splattering the final layer and then trowelling over to get the finish.
Apart from cleaning up the loose bits of cement are there any hints re recipes for render that I should be aware of ?
Regards
Pat

Hi Pat,
The only things i'd recommend is to wet the area before applying the render, and maybe add some PVA or similar (bondcrete) to help the render stick.

Pat,
As Ziggy said.
Also make sure ALL the Brick/Block Motar has been removed.
and that the Chicken Wire gets covered/enclosed by the New Render.Navvi
