Hi

The previous owner of our house raised the ground level to a level too high. I can't afford to get a excavator in to scrape the entire yard to the plan is to dig a path out from the house (about 1m wide) and slope it away so any water drains away from the house and to the rear (where I will put in a drain).

I've attached a photo of where I am digging.

I want to put in a sleeper to retain the higher grass level and some posts to support it (there'll be step down from the grass to the path). What would be the most visually appealing way of supporting one sleeper? Small sleeper posts? Some sort of stake that can be hidden?
