Gday all im new to all this so please be patient with me. not sure which forum is the relevant one so ive started a thread here as well as at retaining walls. I’ve finally got the shed 6m x 4m the only place for it in the yard has a fall of about 700mm from highest to lowest points and worked out I need roughly 10 cube of material (compacted crusher dust) to level out the ground and lay a 120mm slab with a sheet of reo in it. So im thinking of building a treated pine retaining wall(s) to hold all of the above in place.

1.Would I be better off building the retaining wall the extra 120mm and have it act as the form work for the concrete or knock up some shutters and have the slab above the wall ( I think this may save me a bit of work trying to get the wall to the correct height, length and width as the wall sheets for the shed come down 50mm on the slab.)


2.What depth should I dig the post holes to ensure that the retaining wall is solid enough to hold the weight of crusher dust and slab.


3.Should I dig a footing (strip or piers?) for the slab in the compacted crusher dust and ad reo to it and how deep should the strip footing or piers be?


4.Are treated pine sleepers going to be good enough to do the job and what size sleepers are going to be up to the job, if not what’s recommended.

5.Does each wall require a drainage channel behind it or should i dig one that runs along the inside perimeter so gravity takes the water to the lowest corner where hopefully the water runs/soaks away
