When does the old shed become a new shed?
Good evening forum
I am currently repairing my shed. It's an old weatherboard and iron roof affair that has seen better days.
First up the roof is cactus. I have shifted all my tools into the unused cubby for the last couple of years because of the rusted holes.
Next, the roof is too low, and sloping the wrong way. I don't know how tall the original builder was, but anyone taller than 5'9'' (including me) leaves rafter marks in their forehead.
And last is the rot in a few structural members. Including the corner posts which were just sunk into the ground.
So.. By taking the roof off, removing the weatherboards, raising the walls, replacing damaged timber, putting a new roof on and refitting the old weatherboards (with extras for the extra height) has the original shed ceased to exist?
My theory is, it's still the original shed, therefore council probably doesn't need to know. If I'm wrong then I'm possibly in for a world of hurt.
regards
John
