Default Cant get new lock to lock or close from the outside

I have just replaced a sliding door lock with a new "Lockwood Macquarie 900 series patio door handle".

It unlocks from the outside, but I can't get it to lock (or close) from the outside. Everything else works fine.

Anybody have any idea why this would happen. Surely they can't sell a Door handle that is unlockable from the outside?

Take it off and see if it works , if it does then its the way its fitted if it doesn't then its faulty , take it back?
My bet is the first , alignment or binding due to hole size through door, or position of striker plate

For the record the problem was within the mechanism. Ethough the handles are brand new, the needed some WD40 and a bit of encouragement to free themselves up so they would close from the outside.

As an aside, I ordered a bunch of Lockwood 001 deadlatches once (keyed alike), and one of them was faulty - the bolt had the 45 degree angle on the wrong side (i.e. bolt in backwards), so you could push the locked door open.

Hardware store insisted I had installed it incorrectly until I showed them one off the shelf to demonstrate the bolt was in backwards.

The Lockwood 001 (except old ones) automatically undoes the deadlock when you unlock from outside with the key. On the one fitted to the front door, this feature stopped working so I swapped that one onto the garage where I didn't want that feature anyway.
