Converting louvers to sliding windows
I have a 1984 fibro and cypress pine 3bedroom house in Gladstone. Our two rear windows in the bedrooms have a double row of louvers as windows. These have a external box style screen on them. This has been an eyesore for us since we bought in 2008.
What I have in mind is to convert the old style louvre windows into a standard single slider aluminium window to match the rest of the house. Approx size of louvres 1500 x 1000. I would like to change the size a little to free up wall space in the bedrooms for bed heads and tall boys etc. A high mounted 1500 x 600 single slider. .
My basic plan is to remove lourve frame and box screen. Rebuild wall to the new height with pine studs. Fit new window in frame. Level etc. then re sheet wall with fibre cement sheeting. Architraves to finish off. We are repainting the exterior of the house after the window install.
Has anyone got any tips before I rip tear bust
