Hi all
I'm planning on upsizing an external aluminium sliding door from 2.1 to 4.3 metres and will need a bit of advise along the way.
My home is brick veener -tile roof with 470mm eaves and the roof trusses sit on the adjacent wall to the door I plan on installing. It's a hip roof and the closest truss from the gutter up to the truss is 4 metres along the roof line
I've look up tables and think a 150mm pfc should be fine for task? (I think my rlw is about 2.3m) the table suggest 2.4 rlw and and a span of 5.1 metres.
However I haven't taken into account the additional load of the verandah... Which would have a additional rlw of 1.9 m sheet roofing.
So I may need help recalcing the rlw to take the verandah into consideration.
Or do just upsize to a 180mm pfc ?
I'm also looking for suggestions as to what I can do in regards to the flooring as I have polished floor boards and they will fall short of the base of the door where the existing wall is demolished. ( I am thinking of cutting the whole lot back and putting in a single board that runs parallel to door ? )
I'll upload a few pics as they will help explain things a little hopefully
Any help much appreciated.
Cheers Pete
P.s : I'm aware I'll need a plans and a permit. I'm just working things out at the moment.
