Hi guys - I bought a 'seconds' 1200 x 2040 solid Merbuea door. It is a door only, no hardware, reveal or pivot hinge. I went to Brett's hardware in Brisbane and they had one on display with a Lockwood 9800 pivot hinge with the 90degree lockout.

I'll preface this by saying I am pretty capable having renovated (major) a few houses now and have hung more than my fair share of doors !!! But I have never had anything to do with a pivot hinge.

I got Lockwood to send me a PDF copy of the install guide - it looks pretty useless for a timber door / frame and seems to be a set of instructions for an aluminium door.

I need to build the reveal / frame to take the rebated 9800 hinge. It has to be rebated with the main mechanism up top and the smaller pivot / bearing on the bottom. I looked at one my parents have and their whole frame is made from 160 x 50 Merbuea.

Has anyone fitted one of these hinges ? Is there a 'standard' timber size I should be looking at ? Know of any suppliers in Brisbane ? I am going to try Versace timber on Monday.

If anyone has fitted one of these can you please give me a shout. I could do with a few pointers to get started ! Cheers
