Hi all,

After opinions and experiences in fixing larger solid wood skirtings, I have had some quotes for fixing 170mm skirting and have some concerns about using the t-nail method and liquid nails. Only one quote was for plug and nail (and glue) which makes more sense to me as a mechanical fixing method. One of the guys I called for a quote was unable to do the work as he lived too far away, however I mentioned the t-nail and liquid nail method to him and he said he would only nail with plugs top and bottom. When I questioned one of the t-nailer guys he tried to reassure me that he had used this method without fail and he seemed to know what he was talking about, scribed corners, nailing top and bottom etc

What I do not understand is how the t-nail can drive through render into a hollow core house brick without shattering either the render or brick, and assuming this does not happen, then how does it get enough bite / grip in the wall? Maybe this method works for smaller skirtings, but does it for larger ones?

Any advice greatly appreciated.
Cheers
