Hey all,

Just started a little project enclosing a small patio area (30sqm) on my 50's weatherboard. I am trying to give the space a indoor/outdoor feel and a secured area for the kids to hang out in and just a nice cool place to sit and read a book. The patio faces southeast on a elevated block so we get a really nice breeze in the arvo's and of course when it rains heavily the patio get hammered. My plans are to throw up stud walls with large window openings and install hinged plantation shutters. Which leads me to my question. How effective are Cedar stutters in keeping the wet stuff out? Plantation's are not my first choice but the chief design consultant is really pushing for plantations. I like the look of shutters by think they may not be the best choice for the openings.
Thoughts, experiences?

Many thanks, Brad.
