We have a pergola with the open gable end 5550 wide facing the yard. To make this area a bit more comfortable in cooler/windier weather we want to be able to close this off a bit when necessary. Thought about Bistro blinds but over such wide area would be fiddly and a bit xxx'y.

I have available 2 large aluminium sliding doors each 2750 wide in a 'fixed - slider- fixed' configuration. Obviously, if these were installed as is we would have a 'fixed-slider-fixed-mullion-fixed-slider-fixed' look. While that would work I reckon it would look a bit ordinary as the two doors/openings would be 1800mm apart. I would much prefer to have the doors closing together against each other in the middle.

All the glass panels are out and it appears it would be relatively straightforward to remove the reveals on the abutting ends and reinstall 2 fixed glass panels next to each other on the left and right of the two sliding doors, which would then close to meet together in the middle (yes, they were made to close in the opposite direction to each other and so will meet up).

As removing the ends of the reveals would make everything wobbly over such a wide span I have installed a beam 375 x 75 ($20 on Ebay...bargain)over the opening to be fixed to as required.

Aside from ensuring the top and bottom tracks are fixed straight and aligned with each other, the framing to hold it together is suitable, I get the doorlocks not to fight and put a stopper in the middle to prevent the doors sliding together in the same direction.....is there any reason this won't work?
