G'day to all.

I am trying to fix the sash windows in the house. Few of them have not been staying in place and drops down. They are all single hung. I took out one window and I can see the balances are the spiral type with a plastic piece at the bottom which has a slot to hold the spiral spring in place. One of the plastic cap is broken and I think that is causing the spring to turn freely and not doing its job.

From the searches on the internet, they appear to look like the Whitco ones, with only difference of the contraption at the bottom. the current ones dont have the plastic thing but a metal piece. Is that what is called the foot? These are avlbl in the green shed for approx $20 each. I will have to replace quite a few of them in the house and hence was wondering :

  1. either find those plastic things if possible and replace
  2. Find the balance online somewhere for cheaper price and I can buy in a lot.

Any suggestions to fix these windows at a lower cost?
thanks in advance.
