Skirting boards from timber area to carpet area
Hi guys, I'm sure there's a heap of skirting board threads in this forum, and I've read a number of them but haven't really found the answer there so here goes; Basically we have ripped up all our existing flooring at our new house (we haven't moved in yet) and have also removed the skirting boards as we want higher ones. We are having floating engineered flooring installed in about half the house and carpet in the other half. We are having the floating floor installed first. Want we want is 140mm skirts to sit on top of this floor and continue through to the carpeted areas. The engineered floor is 14.5mm thick + the underlay (1-2mm?) There is only 1 wall that will have a skirt that runs from the timber area to the carpeted area. So my question is; do we order the appropriate quantity of 140mm skirt for all the timber areas and then add about 15mm(approx floating floor thickness) and order 155mm skirts for the carpeted areas? That way the 155mm skirt will sit on the slab and 'meet' (hopefully...) the top of the 140mm skirts where it sits on the timber. The extra height of the 155mm skirt will mostly be taken up by the carpet (smoothedge height + carpet height) and (hopefully...) present a skirt that looks uniform in all areas. Am I on the right track here? Help!
