Hi Folks,

Don't know exactly where this one fits so I've put it in 'Odds and Sods' and doing a search I couldn't find exactly what I was looking for elsewhere on the Forum.

Below is a picture of a wall within our home . It is in the second floor and the building is circa 1940's by the water. Seems as if we have some mould growing behind the paintwork and possibly in the stone / brick work.

I was hoping to get some advice from the forum on how to repair and prevent this in the future before I dive in i.e. stripping back, how to prepare, what products to use in finishing.

Damp is something I am going to struggle with generally in this home as there seems to be no protection from rising damp given the foundation is Sydney sandstone. Nonetheless, given this is the second floor I don't believe this to be rising damp?

Any insights or help would be appreciated.
