I have already added carpet and wall and roof insulation to the double garage as I don't park my cars in there and could use the extra space

However the garage roller door is still there and the insulation is pointless as the outside air goes straight through the gaps in the sides and top (not to mention all sorts of bugs and spiders making their way in).

I was wondering what are the implications to walling it off? Any ideas how to best do it?

Do I need to (mandatory) inform the government if I am altering it? I don't plan on putting bedrooms or kitchens in there. Just as a lounge/computer room and laundry.

I have noticed a trend that hardly anyone uses their garages these days for the purposes of storing their car. It is always to store junk or just extra living space.
