    Default House plan software

    Hi,

I’d like to create a house plan for my house so I can tinker with some Reno plans.

I’ve had a play with sketchup but found it a bit cumbersome and slow to learn.

Does anyone have any suggestions of software I might use? Free or relative low cost would be preferred.

    Thanks heaps

i had this question a while ago, and Sweet Home 3d was suggested to me - and I liked it when I used it. It wasn't something I used a lot so can't really help, but know it was a good option and a fair few vids to help kick-start your learning

    Uncle google says

10 Best Free Floor Plan Software

    • Floorplanner. ...
    • SmartDraw. ...
    • RoomSketcher. ...
    • SketchUp. ...
    • Civil 3D. ...
    • Sweet Home 3D. ...
    • AutoCAD Architecture. ...
    • Roomle.

You've found SketchUp difficult, so suggest you look at Floorplanner

Yeah I’ve been working through the google suggestions. Floorplanner looks ok. Many of the others seem overkill with monthly fees

Most of the designers and architects I have dealt with still do them by hand on paper and tracing paper and don’t go over to CAD until they have developed the concept to a point of adding the finer details
It is much quicker that way
