Re Sideboard fretwork
Hi,
I'm almost finished (hopefully) renovating an old English oak sideboard, and would really appreciate some helpful advice from some kind person.
While using stripper on the two doors, the four fretwork patterns lifted off -(each door had a fretwork pattern top and bottom) - 3 came off complete, but some small pieces broke off the fourth fretwork. (Disaster!!)
Should I
(a) try to piece together the little bits (but it won't be complete)
or
(b) find someone who has a scroll saw and could make a matching one - ( is this an impossible ask?) - Can send some photos if required.
or
(c) ??????????????
should I just go back to opal cutting and forget all the stripping, sanding, staining, finishing off of this project.
Also, how best to get rid of the old "timber smell" inside the 3 drawers - have started sanding them inside - should I then stain/varnish to seal them?
Thanks so much,
opalmagic
