Supporting post
I have posts supporting the roof over the front porch of my townhouse. I found wood rot in the footing that covers the stirrup at the base of the post. Out owners corporation said this wood rot could not affect the posts structural integrity as the post has a metal posts running through the centre of it. I have never heard of metal being drilled and feed through a four x four supporting post. Just wondering if there is such a thing.
