Not sure this is the right place for my question but I am looking at buying a welder in the following week mainly for mild steel up to 6mm so leaning at a MIG only unit but...

I have seen these CIG transmigs get good feedback and having the TIG option may come in handy one day. Was just wondering if I would be better of getting a MIG unit separate and a TIG at a later date if I require it as it will work out to be the same price give or take? At this stage I will just be welding stands but at some point I imagine I could end up welding finer plates etc where I feel the TIG will have the edge...

I am looking at the CIG weldskill 250 for 900$

Or I could go with the transmig 250 for 1600$ (700$ but more price of a tig unit)

I wont need Tig for my plans but having an all in one unit does require less space and at least its all there if need be but I am worried about the performance of an all in one unit and seeing the price is pretty much equal I am not too concerned going the single unit option for better performance... most reviews of the transmig seem to have good thing to say but I did notice none were welding above 3mm. In short I dont want to limit myself if I went with the all in one unit.

It was also suggested to me at work to try get a 3 phase unit as some unit on single phase will cause issues with other devices depending on the current load? how true is this? I do have 3 phase units almost in ever area of the house but I noticed the price for 3 phase units is of course much higher, of course if the lights in the kitchen or so go out when welding I will be in trouble but I cant see this being an issue.
