Making best use of a 1 inch board when resawing
I have a number of 1 inch rough sawn boards that I want to resaw for boxes.
What would be the best way to maximimse the wood I get out of it
If I cut it in half I will get 2 boards perhaps 9mm, a bit on the thin side or I could get 1 12mm board plus a thinner board for a panel perhaps

Hi ClintO....I would try and get a 12 to 13 mm board first and with the remainder see how thick you can get it to use for insert trays.. Internal trays always look better when made from thinner board. Even at 5 mm you can make a very strong tray for most boxes.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'

Depends on how big you want the boxes to be. For all except quite big boxes, 10mm or less wall thickness is fine. By resawing this way you will be able to run the grain around the box. IMHO, boxes with sides too thick look clunky.
Also, it depends on what type of corners you want, and what size hinges if any.

The hinge issue is quite something, the ones I have need at least 10mm but 12 would look better.
I usually use a Gifkins dovetail jig but am considering trying mitre corners for a change

narrow timbers
Clint, rather than slice your inch boards, if you want some thinner boards, I can give you some panels of blackbean and NG rosewood around 10-14mm if you want ?
