150mm Piano Hinge/ Continious Hinge
Hi guys and girls.
I am chasing a supplier of 150mm or 6" piano hinges for box making. I would prefer florentine bronze colour if possible.
Does anyone know in Aus who might sell them.
I am in Brisbane.
Thanks in advance
Tony

You could try either of these two...

Bunnings certainly used to sell them, at least in longer strips, which you can cut to size and certainly in brass and chrome. I don't recall if there was an "antique" finish.

I don't like your chances of finding florentine bronze, also sometimes called 'antique', finish. McJing have brass plated 90 degree stop hinges - 90deg Piano Hinge. They also stock the non-stop variety but IMO they're not much good for boxes. If you want solid brass you'll probably have to search overseas, Lee Valley have these - https://www.leevalley.com/en-gb/shop...s?item=00D8004 - and these - https://www.leevalley.com/en-gb/shop...s?item=00D8069 - they also used to have a 200mm x 9mm hinge that is quite a bit more sturdy than the 7mm ones but I can't see it on their website at the moment.
Aliexpress might generate some hits.

Thanks Guys,
I think I will have to use solid hinges. I have a hardware store that Carbatec Bne recommended. I'll check if they sell something suitable.

Thanks China, I think it's me but I've never been able to cut the hinge without me knowing it isn't just right.
I am ok with a say 2mm thick quality hinge and ill recess it into the timber.

Do you mean the cheap ass bent sheet metal ones or the expensive and hard to find extruded brass ones (as actually used on pianos) Brass ones could be treated. The other only made from thin steel normally chrome plated -have seen in a "brass like finish" The ones that come in a roll. Often used in cheap corner doors in kitchens? Another option might be (not quite sure of the correct term) the plug hinges (each half of the hinge fits a round hole?)Tend to not be seen at all and generally solid brass - could be chemically treated if needed.

Timber bits has a 150mm brass plated 90' stop hinge in their shop quite reasonable. Cheers RGP.
