1st Jewellery Box
Well i`ve finally got around to making a Jewellery box after admiring all the great pieces i`ve seen here.
This one is pretty basic with some nice woods, it features flamed koa front and sides along with Flamed Blackwood lid and inner, i`m usure of the species i`ve used for the ouside of the lid, i`m trying for the life of me to remember what it is.
I`m using the Leigh jig in Half Bind dovetail mode as i`m now doing on most of my Cabinets.
I`ve sanded it down to 1200 and applied cabots cabothane satin finish.
Anyway here`s some pics,
Brad

I like it. Nice workmanship and beautiful timbers.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.

Very nice one thing with all the boxes made and shown here they are all different not like the mass produced stuff you find in jewlery stores all the same colour shape and size.

Thanks for the kind words
I`m still trying to figure out the species i used on the outside of the lid, i`ve got another small board here that i might post a pic of.
I bought so much wood all at once that it`s a job keeping up with with the identification of it all

Very nice looking gooma. Is that a tray inside the box and is it removable? Beautiful wood. Nice work for your first jewelry box.
In woodworking there is no scrap, only firewood.

Thanks everyone
Yes the tray is removable, i`ve left just enough room under the tray to place some other bits and pieces.
I think i`ll have a go at some kind of lid supports and concealed hinges in my next effort, i didnt want to make this one too complicated.
