3D beach/waves/ocean resin boxes.
Hi gang, I have been experimenting and practising on this style of resin for some weeks and initially driving me mad trying to get it right. After about 10 test runs all on offcuts of red cedar I think I finally "sort of" mastered the technique. On the larger box there are 5 layers of resin, each done 24 hours apart. 3 layers on the little ring box also 24 hours apart. Not sure where I will go to with this. I have another two of the larger boxes cut out without lids and about another 8 of the little ring boxes cut out. Maybe a ring holder in the larger box, dunno. The larger box is all 150 year old red cedar, including the base. (with silver ash).

I think you've nailed it. They look great.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Another excellent result making all your hard work pay off. Really like the first photo of the first box as it looks just like an aerial shot of the ocean.

Thanks Dallas and NC Archer. I've seen people selling things like food platters etc with this ocean wave effect. Some of those don't have a "sand" colour to them, just use the timber. I watched a certain few youtube videos over and over again to try and work this out.

I must admit that the first one with the sand feature is really attractive.
You have done very well Paul.

Thanks Cava, There is a bit of "sand coloured resin" on the small ring box, but the next one I'll make more sand.

Hi gang,
As I commented above I had another two of the larger boxes cut out without lids sitting on my bench and wanted them finished and out of the way. So I got in and finished them, and thought I would put a nice little row of ring holders in the centre, holding 14 rings. Pretty happy with the end result however I will not make any more of these boxes, they are wayyyy tooo fiddly.

I can understand you saying they are too fiddly, but they are great for us to admire.

I am not usually a fan of resin as it tends to be over done but I have to admit those boxes do look good.

John
