I don't know much about aussie timbers but I know a little about nz timbers... Rimu has been stopped being milled but still can be got over here.... Kauri not swamp kauri is almost overrated.... Totara burl you'll prolly find it in veneer form but thats what i'd be looking for.... Buy online and sell with NZ's #1 auction & classifieds site | Trade Me is our ebay type site and you'll find all sorts on there if you need any help getting it across I'm more than willing

Thanks the offer Rob, the only trouble might be bringing in timber, even veneers, as Customs are very tough on stuff like that. But first I'll wait and see what Dj has been able to find out for me.

Kiwi Timbers
Rimu or Kauri would be the picks
if you could get some swamp kauri it could be quite special
Some of The wood is thousands of years old try sourcing it in Northland
a woodturner or craftsman could send you some
I think they excavate it out of river beds in the South Island as well

Thanks BeeNut. I ended up greeting ancient kauri from Bowerbird Timber, and I'll match it with some fiddleback tassie Blackwood which I'll get from Britton's in Dandenong.
