    OK Bob Iunderstand your point. The fact is the base is not solid timber I have to confess, although it is the only non solid timber in the construction. The base is 6mm mdf with a Tas Blackwood veneer top and bottom. I hope this remains stable, I have used this approach in other boxes up to 5 years old now with no issues to date.
