    Default Backgammon Set

Strictly speaking, this is not a box although it has all of the characteristics of a box. I didn't want to post it in toys because box making is my current passion.
This is also my first attempt at marquetry.
The box consits of Tassmanian Myrtle burl veneer with inlaid silver ash and blackwood point. the sides are red gum. I used the stones from an existing set because the colours matched so well. The wooden dice were pick up while on a trip to San Franciso.

Lovely choice of woods. A very impressive piece.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

That is a very nice set. When I was a boy I wanted to make one but did not know what I was doing and so never got it done. Love playing on the wooden ones because you can slam the piece down on the board when you make a hit.

    Are you concern?

    Default Slamming Backgammon

Thanks everyone for your comments. They are very encouraging.

Christos, I'm not so concerned about slamming pieces on the board. We play a more sedate game at my place.

There is so much to say on this one that I might divert from the thread. I will say this playing on the computer is not as much fun.
