    Default Barton's Boxes

Here's a pictoral collection of the small boxes that I've made over the past three years. The clock has a hidden compartment, so I guess it is a box also.

Nice boxes, Don. They are pretty satisfying things to make I reckon, & you've shown the variety that can be achieved.

    Don,
They look really great. Have you sold them or are they part of your collection?

Also I think that I noticed a stamp or something inside the lid of a couple ... what is this?

    Cheers,

The timber is Blackbutt. This is from timber beams in an old warehouse in Brisbane built at the end of the 19th century and demolished at the beginning of this. It is full of pitch veins and crystallised pitch. I love the timber and wish I had purchased more at the time.

I give away everything that I make. That's why have a fairly good picture record.

The boxes with the stamp carry the same wording as the Makers Mark below my signature. I ordered a branding iron from Lee Valley for this purpose. Now that I have the Makers Marks, I tend to use them on my more advanced pieces and the branding iron on simpler ones.

Anybody over here make them ?

I want one which says "Spot the blunder, it's by Gumby"

If at first you don't succeed, give something else a go. Life is far too short to waste time trying.

Mag, see this posted earlier today. http://woodworkforums.ubeaut.com.au/...ad.php?t=27933 I cannot answer the cost question as it is determined by both the type of mark and quantity that you choose.

I like the idea of you using recycles wood, Don. gets rid of all that worry about kiln dried vs furniture grade. Some timber also has a history.
