GMC Tools were made by Techtronic Industries of Shenzen, China. They had incredibly variable quality control, but a "no questions asked" warranty returns policy. Any problems, they cheerfully replaced the tool. I went through three drills and then the fourth lasted over 20 years; then it got left on a roof!

Those 20 year old GMC tools are survivers and almost certainly of excellent quality; the lemons were chucked out years ago.

These days, Techtronic Industries produce a host of brands including Ryobi, Milwaukee, AEG, Ozito, Ridgid and VAX.
