Blackbutt simple box
and I also made this one at the same time, its very simple but the finished result was excellent. I used Blackbutt and Brush Box. The Blackbutt has a very cranky grain which makes it look so swirly,

Thanks for your kind comments everyone. Since getting into this box making addiction, I do try and keep my boxes fairly simple. Might have done a couple earlier on that were getting bit to flashy. I think the main thing to try and achieve is how would it look on a woman's dressing table. As long as it is stylish and very practical and functional.

i think in your case it is the simple contrasting dovetailed sides and lid lift and the beautiful grain of the lid. The front of the box looks great tooregards,

Hi Denque,
Yes I seen your box with the dinosaur inside it. Very nifty. On another thread here I spoke about engraving onto timber. I've got something in the pipeline along those lines. But the only resemblance to a dinosaur is the method that I will be using. A real dinosaur method. I've still got a bit of organizing to do yet before I can trial it out. Just trying to get rid of some orders I have for boxes at present and free up some time. I will certainly put a pic up of my engraving idea if and when it works.
Regards, Paul
