    My wife and mines 5th anniverary is comin up Sept 5 th which traditionally is wood. A friend recently cut down a cherry tree(no not george washington) and he brought me a few rounds to work with. This is the end result. Check out the heart shaped knot in the bottom.

    2 Coats and rubbings of BLO and after 2 weeks of air drying a coat of Johnson Paste Wax.. Thanks for the comment, I thought it turned out O.K. for my 1st box. The fun part was drying it in the microwave and the glue-up. This was hand planed as I have no jointer or planer and cut with an okd style hand miterbox. The corners were rounded with a hand rasp before finishing sanding it by hand with 220 grit and finally some 400 grit. Truly from Log to box in about 3 days excluding the drying time

    Well I really screwed the pooch , Our anniversary was today not the 5th, but she still got the box and was happy with a nice dinner out, Must be alzheimers setting in.

    Nice grain in that box and well done with the making of it.

    It's a good feeling to go from totally raw product to finished article.
