A nice looking box, Hugh. I like the shape.
    The inlay sets it off.
Did you make the inlay, or is it off-the-shelf?

    Hi Steve,
I made the inlay with the scroll saw.
The biggest problem was what to make. The documents it is for are last will and testaments and funeral plans etc. and I wanted some thing fitting but didn't want too religious (crosses, or angles) or too gruesome (the grim reaper or scull and cross bones) so came up with the dove.
The shape of the box was inspired by one in the Australian Woodsmith but the taper does not go all the way to the bottom as I needed more space for the hinge that I had to hand and I used box joints instead of splined miters for the corners and it is a bit bigger.
    Regards

I think the dove was a perfect choice. Looks good, too. Nice and subtle, not too bright and colourful.
I'm pleased to see a bit more inlay work.

    Hi Hugh,
A good looking box. I hope the documents won't be needed for many a year yet!
    regards
    Billy
