    A superb result.
And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

It would look good lined with suede leather, Scott.

I'm new to the gig, but really love boxes. It would be fabulous to get some high res photos, I'm keen to see what you did with the edging and how you made the joins.

Hi Wongo, I'm with Evanism above, we would like to learn about the details, being new to box making. I am sure there is a heap of knowledge you could pass on to us beginners, even just starting with the timber sizes etc

that said, it is a magnificent piece of work. I despair of ever making something as beautiful
    regards,

    Magic, Scott!! Pure magic.
So..what do you want to do inside? Maybe just lining it with felt would be sufficient. Hardware down the road from me has a light brown suede type finish on self adhesive backing. Sounds a bit but it might look good in your box. Or you could go for my favorite...black.
If you're interested, let me know. Either one I can supply. And to you..No cost/no postage!

    Regards,

    Rob

As JillB said, it is always interesting to see details and techniques.

I am an expert in programming and others look at what I do in awe as it looks so easy. Its easy for me to overlook or even remember the time when I was like that too.

Simple things that seem trivial to a person who can, and does, execute such magnificent work as this are almost impossible to comprehend to a novice like me.

I see the sides, hmmmm, me thinks, I get it. Then I see the box. Cool. Then photo three! There are extra layers, hidden bits, linings and doo-daddery!

It reminds me of origami instructions. A panel of four describes a crane. Panel 1, 2 and 3 show basic folds a chimp could do, then panel four has you do 17 folds in 5 dimensions requiring 3 hands..... grrrr.

No internet at home at the moment!!

LGS Thanks for the offer. I am working on a simple Eboy/huon pine tray to put inside the box. So I am good.

As for photos. I don't have a good camera but I will try to take some closeups when the box is finished.

Evanism, I use a disc sander to cut the mitre joint for the edges.

    Thanks everyone.

Here are the pics. The box has 2 coats of Tung oil on. I will leave it to dry for a few more days. Then I will wax it and buff it.

If he gets it without working for it; he's a parasite; and if he accumulates it after a life time of hard work, people call him a fool who never got anything out of life."
