Making a box
You know someone is really bored when they are making boxes. Here is one I am working on at the moment. Huon Pine pond, Tas Blackwood leaves and Camphor carps. Oh yes I do have a scrollsaw, but don't tell anyone OK.

One Sunday morning, about 7 am, someone will come to your place with a leaf blower......could be my neighbour.
Very nice Wongo. And my head I'd be a scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain.

Great work Scott. Looking forward to seeing the finished box.

Nice work Wongo (psssst, I have a scollsaw as well). Love the detail in the leaves and the grain orientation. Are the leaves inlaid? Be great to know how the leaves were inlaid, if they were.
Thanks for sharing-Scott

It is marquetry. In this case, the veneers are 4mm thick and the scrollsaw table is set to a 5 degree angle. It allows the patterns to fit tightly into the cutouts in background.

Hey Scott
Why don't you stick to furniture
Now you start on boxes, and immediately make us all look ordinary
By the way, the leather you got me has been put to good use. I used it to line the guitar stand I nade for my son, and have just used it to line a jewellery box I'm making for my wife.
I'll post some pics on here at the w/e
