New to Box Making
Having recently moved to Victoria around the Dandenong Ranges, I would like to make some Jewellery Boxes and would like a recommendation where I can source figured wood.

You might get the odd figured piece from a retail outlet but it would be rare. Your best bet would be Facebook and Instagram where you will find small and large boutique millers that will cater for your needs.

Keep your eyes on the Timber section of the Marketplace down lower in this Forum as I occasionally put up box making timber.

I found the local Tender Centre was a good source for raw wood & old furniture that yielded some very good figured pieces. This forum has a marketplace for lumber may be useful.

I occasionally offer figured panels and short figured boards suitable for boxes. PM if really interested. Very wide range of species from all over the country. When our lockdown ends, you are welcome to visit and have a look.

Welcome to the area reemer.
Smaller pieces might be harder to come by at a timber outlet. But if you're willing to buy larger pieces and break them down, then maybe somewhere like Matthews Timber might help? Haven't been there myself in many years though.___________________________________________________________
