Pulled all the tape & clamps off this morning and happy with how it looks so far

First time doing book matching and whilst it looks nice i cut it on the table saw (almost 3mm kerf) and i really wish i had a band saw for a much thinner cut/kerf as it would've matched closer but i'm happy with it still...

Just need to trim and sand and hopefully it all comes up nice

Coming along nicely. Even with a bandsaw the 2 halves rarely match perfectly so you may not have done much better with one.

    Looks good so far.

There are a few blades sold as "thin kerf" but most sites don't say what the actual kerf is. This one is claimed as 1.5mm.

Got a bit done on the box today... but forgot to take more photos of the book matched lid as it now has clamps in the way due to another glue up...lol

    thanks mate

it does make me feel a little better... but a 0.5mm kerf would have been nicer than a 3mm kerf...lol

i have a great "thin kerf" on my small circular saw but not on the 10" table saw.
I also need to find a better saw blade... i don't think this one handled the numerous hardwoods i have put through the saw lately...lol

The colour of the Walnut has come up very nice. What method did you use to cut the slots for the splines in the corners?

I'm loving the look of the walnut...

as for the spline, i made a jig for the table saw that allows cuts down the length of the box corner as long as the box isn't too tall. i made one for horizontal spline cuts and thought i could do one for vertical splines as well... completely experimental and i feel it worked a treat

when i'm next in the shed i'll take a photo of the two jigs
