    Default Kauri boxes

These are the boxes I made for the Kauri Project, on at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Sydney for the next week. If you have a chance, get along and have a look at the exhibition - there is some amazing work there.

Is that a mini tambour lid on the last one????

Very nice work - love the unusual designs

Its a good job you did geometry and trig at school, eh? Just knew it would come in handy one day....

Thanks folks. Yes, it's a tambour lid, kauri strips with half-pencils glued to them. It's the raffle first prize.
When I was calculating the mitre angles for the edges, I drew on my surveying background, spherical trigonometry, Napiers rules and ..... the internet. Always use the most appropriate tool.

All amazing but what happens if you press the thumb indent on Number 1? Does it pop open to reveal something?

And where can I buy raffle tickets?
    Lovely work as always.

You press the thumb indent to open it. It's relieved underneath, and the lid tilts open. AFAIK, the raffle tickets are only on sale at the exhibition...you could try the friends of the gardens.

The lid on No. 5 swivels open around one corner. It was fun watching people trying to lift it off.

    Thanks Alex,
My luck in raffles has always been abysmal anyway, but would I love to own that one!

AlexS., your angles have me spellbound. Designs are super, and your craftsmanship excels as ever.

    Wish I was there.
