    Default Box with Some Carving

Wood is poplar, jatoba, maple and unfininshed cidar for the base. Features wooden hinges inpired by one of Derek's tutorials. I made brass split nut hinge rods for the wooden hinges. Small tools pictured are all homemade and were used in the actual carving. Finish is linseed oil, tung oil and varnish home brew. Took about 2 months to complete chipping away at it a little bit most nights. Very good stress release and overall very satisfying project. Thanks for looking.

Well done, nice project. The big fat dovetails are lovely, and I would really like to know what the script says... The figuring on the lid is something else.. congratulations.

Wow. Nice work there ddeen. Lots of patient work with that carving.

Mind if I ask what the text says?

    Cheers,

Alf, carving is just a Arabic text for my last name. I have Lebanese roots. I can not read or write in Arabic so I can not confirm accuracy. I thought it looked cool and something I can pass on to my son one day.
