That is a really good looking box!!
Is it possible to post a better photo? that one seems to be out of focus.

The box is from a plan in a magazine would you like the plan
So I have the weekend to finish the box and i would like to get some advise on finishing it
With the box only 5" x 8" im not sure which way to go to bring out the best in the timbers so feel free to put your 2 cents in and i'll try anything once
Just remember the box is a present for the ministry of war and finance

That looks great ninpoman, congratulations!
Could you please name the magazine containing the plans and the date of issue?
Try some coats of Wattyl Teak Oil wiped on with steel wool, followed by Ubeaut Traditional Wax burnished on with a buffing wheel, that should really bring out the figure of the silky oak.
LGS has really brought out the best on silky oak with this method here in a thread started by JillBregards,

Nothing like jumping in the deep end first off.
Congratulations. Looking forward to the finished piece.
Cheers
