    Default Small boxes

So it's my fathers birthday coming up and as he's always stealing my doweling jig I thought i'd get him his own I found a nice used one that just needed a box so away I went....

it needs to be finished and fitted inside to locate parts but it's getting there.... the only stuff up is I mounted the hindes on the outside.
I also made up a smaller cube type box with sliding lid I intend to fill it with a wax for screws e.c.t I saw the idea in a book I was reading not so long ago.... any suggestions on wax type???

the lid is a sliding dovetail.... first time i've ever done something like that used the router to do the main body which I had to do 3 times due to me lifting the cube off the router bit too soon and the lid ws done with a hand plane came out well for a bit of scrap.

Nice work , hinges on the outside are ok , it's a storage box for a tool not a jewellery box, I like the idea of the dovetailed sliding lid on the wax box ,might have to try that one out myself.
A wax box sounds a good idea as well.

Nice work BFR. As to what type of wax, I prefer bees wax.... no petroleum by-products to mess up your finish.

And its fun raising the bees, having honey to make mead with, and propolis to reduce allergies. Just my 02¢

I love the simplicity of the box and the sliding dovetail lid. Good job.
