    Default Boxmaking Plans

Woodturners of the Hunter are starting a new community project!

We have been running boxmaking courses at our Club for over 2 years now and have excellent instructions and plans for a number of our "standard boxes".
We are now offering these plans and instructions to other boxmakers in exchange for a small donation which will go towards funding our charitable works helping the Less Fortunate in our Community.
Woodturners of the Hunter have a proud record of Community projects and we hope that this project too will be successful.
We are still in the early phase of this project but it will be refined over time and depending on its success will hopefully become more extensive and have pix and other bells and whistles. Please support this project if you can - we would really like to make this one a winner!

    Cheers Billy,
it takes a lot of work from a large number of members - concepts, designing, machining timber, instruction of students and more.
We have a fantastic group with a wealth of expertise.
    cheers Salty

Thanks for the feedback. Just so happens we have posted a new box design on our site last night. This is a very easy box to make and lends itself to a multitude of enhancements. Feel free to download it at (Woodturners of the Hunter: FREE Boxmaking Plans).

Thanks GDL, i have downloaded it and duly sent off required funds. It will take some time as i am somewhat busy but i will certainly give it a go. Would look nice with contrasting timbers. i will post a pic when i have completed it - but dont hold your breathe, it will take some time. cheers

Thanks for your kind words. After a quick visit to your blog I note that you are not half bad at using your obvious talent to help others. Good luck with the silent auction.

As Salty mentioned in an earlier post this project is in an experimental stage so at this time we are unable to process donations from outside Australia. Subject to adequate success and support from Australian woodworkers, we will set up a proper ecommerce facility in the future.

In the meantime we appreciate the offers from overseas readers but at this stage we encourage you to download and use the plans and if possible make a donation at a later date when facilities are expanded.

Our current conversion rate of donations per download is quite low but we accept that there may be a variety of resons for this. Undaunted, we are continuing to develop quality plans and have some very interesting designs coming up in the near future.
    Regards
    Greg

Great plans and idea . Could you not set up a PayPal account as this would make it a lot easier to give a donation. This is especially true for people outside of OZ.

yep message received and understood This is just a trial period to gauge success and usage and when we get the stats in and we feel it is going well then we will set up a paypal facility.
Thanks for the feedback, and in the meantime enjoy using the plans anyway!
PS. would love to see some pix of our plans made up with a South African timber!!!

    Hi Guys
Just an update to let you know that those of you who donated for the plans deserve a pat on the back. From the donations received we were able to purchase some of the materials used to produce a stunning Jewellery Cabinet which will be raffled in aid of sick children in the John Hunter Hospital. We are aiming to raise in excess of $10,000. Given that the money raised will be partly due to your $5 donations a very big thank you from the Woodturners of the Hunter. It reminds me of that advertisement; "from little things big things grow". I will post some photos of the cabinet shortly.
    Regards
    Greg Lawrence

Just put some pix of the cabinet here. This is just a stunning cabinet made by Greg Lawrence and Ron Taylor - two of our best cabinet makers in the Club (Woodturners of the Hunter). The cabinet will be raffled in conjunction with the John Hunter Children's Hospital. Tickets will be available 11th December and will be drawn on the 18th March 2012.
