We dont stock veneer sheets as a rule, but Robin may have some stashed around the place, and Robin imports veneers from England for personal use. He will put you on to his sources I am sure. If you let Robin Cromer know what you need, he has an encyclopedic knowledge if what is in the prepared timber container, and what is in the Turners shed. If you want something in particular, I am about to process some Silky Oak, Iron Bark, and Red Cedar from 2014 into turners blanks, but Robin can always get me to process up whatever he wants to stock. His email and phone number are in the last newsletter. The arrangement at the moment is, he (or I) will package it and we will leave it out for you to pick up.

From what I understand the SIGs will open up when the ACT govt goes to stage 2.
Best of luck with the elbow

As you come into the Bench Room, We have placed the box making rack of small timber pieces, box kits etc,so I dont have to store them out the back or open up the timber container. People can see the variety of little stuff. We try to keep this rack fully stocked.

1/2 the inside of the turners shed showing some of the stock of turners blanks.

Robin & John looking into the timber container at some of the South African sourced Blackwood stock down on the bottom shelf

The outside of the drying shed, with some of the stuff for the forge extension in the foreground

part of the inside of the timber drying shed where I've been cleaning out billets from the front section of the bottom rack for Robin to cut into turner's blanks

some 40yo Otway blackwood sticks in storage

a dolly of Botanic gardens blackwood & some Duntroon elm I am processing to go into the timber container

I can't see Aladdin in any of those photos but I'm sure he must be hanging around somewhere close by.

I think I need to become a politician and move to Canberra. What a fantastic setup and supply of timber you have got for your members.

For those interested in the WoodCraft Guild of the ACT "The committee agreed that Open Days (Tuesday, Thursday & Friday) can restart on 1
June 2020 in compliance with of the 20 people limit."

Special Interest Groups (SIGs) will re-commence on their usual schedules from 4 June Except for the "Intro to Woodworking" Monday Night sessions where Harry requires a little more time to organize things to stay under the load limit and respect the distancing requirements. Members will be advised by newsletter and the site will be updated Just a moment...

We received a large donation of veneers today... LAARGE!
Call in tomorrow and ask for me. I will sell you the lot at an exceptionally good price, so I do not have to find a place to store it

    Veneers you say!

    I'll take them!

I'm also out and about tomorrow.... the storage holes need tidying up and reconciling.

At the moment we are re-stocking with Blackwood culled from the botanic gardens on black mountain to add to Otway & Sth Afican Blackwood stock , We have elm from Duntroon& Government house, claret ash from Aranda, Red Box from Melba we have good stocks of Atlas cedar from Royal Canberra Golf Club. We have a fair amount of high country ash, some mahogany, Silky Oak from Torrens, Robinia pseudoacacia from Sutton. We regularly get Pin Oak, but I think we only have 1x 3m slab remaining

Its not a box, but this little shaker style table was from a locally grown Atlas Cedar.

You certainly will not get a better deal on timber anywhere, and our boxmaking special interest group has room for new members.
I am officially a member now, and just attended my first box making SIG session

The group was friendly, helpful and left me jealous of their skills.

I'll be at the wood sale on the weekend to pick up some wood for box making
