    Default Bubinga Veneer

Received some Bubinga veneer sheets from Shedhand recently so laid a few up on some Klinky Pine which i hoped would be a good partner. There was a little bit of cupping due to the single sided veneer but this was reduced after leaving it stickered and weighted for a few weeks followed by a few passes through the drum sander to get the inside faces flat.
This was a standard build but i wanted the fit out to be different from the usual Black lining with commercially made pillows and ring lines so having the time to experiment i bought some leather and decided to make my own pillows and ring lines. I'm satisfied with the outcome but more practice on glueing techniques will have them looking better in future.
The last photo is one of a batch of pillows i made for another watch box from Red Cedar and i thought the leather colour with the Cedar accents was particularly striking.

Absolutely stunning figuring in that veneer.
When all is said and done, there is usually a whole lot more said than done.
