Default Budgeroo, Beefwood & Tiger Myrtle document box. (with wooden Hinges)

Well, here is my best box to date.

Made to house an Order of Australia Medal, photo album and presentation folder it is quite large. 410mm x 320mm x 105mm!

Walls are 10mm Beefwood and Budgeroo, with recessed seal. The lid is solid Tiger Myrle and Budgeroo. (floating)

Base and tray are leather lined and the wooden hinges are Budgeroo with bamboo pins.

    Finished with Danish Oil.

Lovely box, Budgeroo. The tiger myrtle is a spectacular piece, excellent choice for the panel. Don't we have great timbers in Australia!

    Hi Maxine,
Budgeroo hails from Western Qld and only grows in the worst country! (Correction! I was thinking late last night, it is Bendee that grows in the worst country!) Botanical name lysicarpus angustifolious here is a fantastic link to a site owned by Vern that gives an overview of most of the outback timbers, highlighting Budgeroo and many other beautiful timbers.

    Budgeroo

A great box, a really suitable repository for the Medal that it will hold.

    Hi Billybodes,
I am in Bardon in Brisbane and am looking for someone who can make me a document box that will store A4 pages. Nothing too fancy - but need for a birthday next coming up soon. Any chance you could help me out? If you can and can give me an idea of pricing, I would really appreciate it. Thanks,

Great box Billyboydes. The lid is inspiring and I like the the external appearance of the larger spline that also supports the tray.

    Thank you everyone.
Yes Mapleman a beautiful timber. I picked up a boot full of 20 year, air dried Beefwood and Budgeroo in a garage sale a year or so ago.
    regards
