it's my favourite part of the design.
The box is for my best mates daughter's 16th birthday, who adopted me as her Dad around the age of 8. She is the daughter that i never knew i needed.
She has become such a massive part of my life and her name means "little bird". Its all very fitting!!

bit more progress today...
Floor glued in, hardware fitted, everything tested and tweaked where required.
Will strip it down tomorrow and apply the finishes then put it all back together.

Looking really good. It will be nice to see the finished product when you get there. It's been interesting to follow the progress of something different and your workmanship is top notch.

Mounted the key holder that doubles as handles for the lid and drawer then stripped down the hardware and got stuck into making it pretty.
will be clear coating it tomorrow and then should have it all back together on sunday/monday
Hopefully the bow & arrow quiver will be here next week so i can get it boxed up and couriered to my "daughter" as i am not allowed to deliver it thanks to Rona and her mate Dan

I was seriously considering painting the engraved hummingbird a metallic gold, but i'm really liking the dark brown and feel that the metallic gold might end up looking tacky.

Great outcome. The rustic appearance goes with the recycled timber that you have used and I think also suits the sport that it is made for.
I hope to see more of your works in the near future.Dallas

That's what i was going for... unfortunately i didn't get to use as much recycled timber as i wanted after the thickness planer decided to die on me.
Now that this project is complete i'll be throwing my attention towards my boat, i'll start a thread for that soon as well.

Looks like some nice gear to complement all your good work. I'm sure it will be better if you can personally deliver it to see the reaction, if you can wait.
